Robot City Engineering Lab
Robotics, Coding & AI for Grades 1-5
Your child has probably already seen a driverless car rolling through LA traffic. Sensors spinning. Nobody behind the wheel.
Ask most adults how that car makes decisions and they can't tell you.
By the end of this program, your child will be able to explain how the car makes decisions.
In Robot City, students join a robotics engineering team and build their own rover. Real hardware they assemble, wire, and code themselves. Then their team gets its first mission on the streets of Robot City, a scaled city with roads, intersections, and traffic signals built right into the classroom.
Every week, a new mission. And every week, the missions get harder.
Early missions are about control. Your child writes the code and the rover follows it, turn by turn, block by block. Then the city starts pushing back. Traffic signals change. Obstacles appear where the map says the road is clear. A delivery route gets blocked and the rover has to find another way.
Then comes the part kids talk about at the dinner table.
The emergency missions. Something goes wrong in Robot City, and the engineering teams have to respond with rovers that can sense what's around them and react on their own.
That's the moment your child discovers the difference between programming, automation, and AI. Programming means telling a machine every step. Automation means it follows the rules without you. AI means it handles a situation nobody scripted.
This isn't watching videos about robots. It's engineering, debugging, and problem-solving with a rover your child built and code your child wrote.
Kids walk out with something bigger than a finished mission: the confidence that when a machine doesn't work, they can figure out why.
No previous coding or robotics experience is necessary. Our skilled instructors will be there every step of the way.
